Refund & Billing Policy

1. Overview

Kernion offers both free and paid subscription tiers. This policy explains how billing, cancellations, and refunds work for paid subscriptions. All payments are processed securely through Stripe.

2. Subscription Billing

  • Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually), depending on the billing cycle you select
  • Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled
  • Daily usage quotas (agent interactions, API calls, etc.) reset at midnight UTC each day
  • Annual subscriptions are billed as a single upfront payment for the full year

3. Cancellation

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to paid features until then
  • After the billing period ends, your account reverts to the free tier
  • Your content and data are preserved when downgrading — nothing is deleted

4. Refund Policy

4.1 Digital Subscription — No Partial Refunds

Because Kernion subscriptions provide immediate access to digital services, we do not offer partial refunds for unused portions of a billing period. This is consistent with standard practices for digital subscription services.

4.2 Exceptions

We may issue refunds at our discretion in the following circumstances:

  • Duplicate charges: If you were charged twice for the same billing period, we will refund the duplicate
  • Service unavailability: If the Services were substantially unavailable for an extended period (more than 72 consecutive hours) during your billing period
  • Billing errors: If a technical error resulted in an incorrect charge amount
  • First billing period: If you cancel within the first 7 days of your initial paid subscription and have not made substantial use of premium features, we may offer a full refund on a case-by-case basis

4.3 How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, contact us at legal@kernion.io with your account email and a description of the issue. We will respond within 5 business days. Approved refunds are processed through Stripe and typically appear on your statement within 5-10 business days.

5. Upgrading & Downgrading

  • Upgrading: When you upgrade to a higher tier, the price difference is prorated for the remainder of your current billing period. You gain immediate access to the new tier's features
  • Downgrading: When you downgrade, the change takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No refund is issued for the difference, but you retain access to the higher tier until the period ends

6. Price Changes

We may adjust subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice before the change affects your account. If you do not agree with a price change, you may cancel before the new price takes effect.

7. Free Tier

The free tier is available to all registered users at no cost. Free tier features may change over time. The free tier does not involve any billing or payment.
