$KERN is a capped-supply ERC-20 token deployed behind a UUPS upgradeable proxy on Base L2. The supply cap is governance-adjustable upward but can never be lowered below the current total supply — ensuring existing holders are never diluted. Burns are permanently deflationary: burned tokens reduce the cap's available mintable capacity forever.

$KERN provides concrete, on-chain utility. Demand arises from governance participation, staking commitments, and platform access — not speculation.

• Governance Authority: $KERN holders delegate voting power and vote on proposals through KERNGovernor. Standard For/Against/Abstain voting with 1-token-1-vote weighting. Proposal threshold: 1,000 KERN. Quorum: 4% of total supply. All execution flows through a 2-day timelock.
• Staking Rewards: Position-based staking with four tiers — 7-day lock at 8% APR, 30-day at 12%, 90-day at 15%, and 365-day at 20%. Each stake is a discrete position with the reward rate locked at entry time. Rewards come from a pre-funded pool, not inflationary minting.
• Treasury Revenue: Platform revenue in ETH and stablecoins accrues to KERNTreasury. Governance authorizes buyback-and-burn operations via Uniswap V3, creating real buy pressure on the open market before permanently burning the purchased KERN.

• UUPS Upgradeable Proxies: All six contracts deploy behind ERC1967 proxies with UUPS upgrade logic. Storage gaps ensure safe future upgrades without slot collisions.
• Role-Based Access Control: No single-owner pattern. AccessControlUpgradeable separates permissions across DEFAULT_ADMIN, MINTER, PAUSER, UPGRADER, COMPLIANCE, SPENDER, and BUYBACK roles.

• Step 4: Timelock & Execution: Approved proposals queue through KERNTimelock with a minimum 2-day delay. Anyone can execute after the delay expires. The Safe multi-sig holds CANCELLER role for emergency vetoes of malicious proposals.
